Liz Meredith is a string player, improviser, and composer originally from Baltimore, Maryland. Her music explores many creative facets, from composing instrumental works to making ambient music, song-oriented pieces, graphic scores, and solo improvisations. In addition to performing her own music, she has premiered new 21st century music by emerging composers. Liz holds degrees from Berklee College of Music (Bachelor’s Degree in String Performance & Film Music), and Mills College (Master’s Degree in Music Composition). She has studied viola performance with Hank Dutt of Kronos Quartet and music composition with Fred Frith.

Jonathan Badger is a guitarist, composer and video artist. He studied music with Stephen Jaffe, Scott Lindroth and John Harbison at the Duke University. His work ranges from postrock sludge to neobaroque chamber music. Often his performances include the use of a distinctly musicalized video projection system based in MAX/MSP/Jitter.

Since graduating from MICA in 2011, Beth Brown (of Brune) produced her first album ("Amalaise" with electronic musician, Jason Sloan) and won a grant for her experimental phonography.

June 1st will mark the beginning of Bradley Manning’s 4th year in prison, and the beginning of his court martial (military trial). This will be the largest action of our campaign, and we need you to be there with us!

Join us for a night of costumes and revelry. Your eyes are sure to be dazzled, your heart opened, your jaw dropped.
We have a show of epic proportions, featuring aerial arts, juggling, hula hooping, stilt walking, acrobatics, puppetry and much much more.
The artists in this show practice weekly in the very space where this show will be held. Proceeds from the show go to benefit 2640 Space and its sister project Red Emma's for community activity and involvement.

Thursday Jun 20, 6PM : Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle Present: A Six Week White Allies Seminar Series Cost: $25 per person per session
OVERVIEW: This is a 6-week discussion series which will explore how whites can be effective allies to the growing Black led social movement brewing in Baltimore.
The sessions will include:
1. Thursday, June 20: Racism & White Supremacy - A Framework for Understanding All Social Justice Issues
2. Wednesday, June 26: The Non-Profit Industrial Complex (NIC) in Baltimore
3. Wednesday, July 3: Black Children and White Adults: The Psycho-Existential Complex
4. Thursday, July 11th: Whiteness and the Contours of Black Leadership
5. Thursday, July 18: White Women and Black Masculinity
6. Thursday, July 25: The “We are the World" Syndrome The purposes of these sessions will be to stimulate dialogue on the multiple facets of white participation in efforts to support Black empowerment.
These sessions will focus specifically dealing with activists in Baltimore who are working particularly with issues facing Black people The target audience are white allies, but all are welcome. Each session will begin with a presentation that will last 20 to 30 minutes. This will be followed by a discussion that will be guided by the facilitator.

Tuesday Jul 2, 6PM : Ramshackle Glory, The Taxpayers, Matt Pless and the Cotterpins, Adventure Adventure
2640 is excited to welcome back RAMSHACKLE GLORY! Ramshackle Glory is a seven piece anarcho-punk band from Tucson, AZ. The band self-releases music on its own Savage Wasteland Music Collective imprint, as well as with friends like Plan-It-X Records and the DIY Bandits.
THE TAXPAYERS are a really fun Goof Punx from Portland Oregon! Originally a three-piece guitar/bass/drum combination, the band incorporates accordion, horns, piano, harmonica, and other instruments during recording sessions. Currently they perform live with a range from three to eight members.
MATT PLESS AND THE COTTERPINS are a folk punk lyrical pop band from Baltimore. Matt Pless is a musician who can't read music, an artist who can't stand most aspects of the pretentious art community, and a writer who usually has fairly poor grammatical skills. All that aside, he creates some pretty cool stuff.
ADVENTURE ADVENTURE is a g-d dammed folk band from Maryland featuring Anthony Lapalomento, Matt Hanley & Will Beach.
Show starts at 6 pm. Doors at 5:30. $5-$10 suggested donation!

Tickets are $32 and will be on sale at noon on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Red Emma's Bookstore Coffeehouse (800 St. Paul St.), Charmington's Cafe (2601 North Howard St.), and at missiontix.com. Please note that ticket sales at Red Emma's are cash only. $1 per ticket will benefit Children of the Blue Sky, www.eternalblueskyofmongolia.org. We'll have some pretty strict anti-scalping policies in place: photo ID is required for entrance and must match the name provided at the time of purchase. Otherwise tickets will be considered invalid. No exceptions.
One person may purchase up to 4 tickets. When one person purchases a group of tickets, When one person purchases a group of tickets, he or she must provide the name of the person using each ticket. That group of ticket holders must enter the show at the same time with ID.
In accordance with the artists' wishes, no photography or video will be permitted, including photography or video using cell phones. To be considerate of 2640's neighbors, and because this is an all-ages show, no alcohol is allowed. If you don't abide by these rules, you will have to leave the show.
