We rely on complex systems to meet our core needs. Drinking water and energy is delivered to our homes, wastes are taken away and dealt with, and food is trucked in from across the world for our consumption. What happens when these systems are disrupted, and how can we prepare?

Local resilience actions can help reduce community vulnerabilities and speed up recovery following a natural disaster. Join us for a discussion on building community capacity focusing on water, shelter, and staying healthy and safe in the age of natural disasters.

Ben Wright is an environmental engineer in Baltimore who has provided risk and resilience expertise to local governments across the US for over 20 years. He has applied that experience at the neighborhood scale to identify simple actions and solutions to empower residents in urban areas to be prepared.
