Stepping out of your comfort zone can be a challenge, but it's a challenge you can tackle with community support!

In this free workshop, Highwire Improv co-founder and teacher Barry Wright (he/him) will lead you through a confidence-building, self-assuring series of warmups and practice exercises that give you the tools you need to make your first-ever phone calls to your elected officials!

What to Expect:

• Brief introductions and some basic community agreements
• Some vocal and physical warmups to get our minds and bodies ready to speak clearly and confidently.
• Paired practice where we take the mystery out of making a statement and hearing the response on the other end of the phone.
• Time to make your calls with the support of like-minded folks!

What to Bring:

• Yourself!
• Your phone, if you have one
• Headphones, if you have them

What We'll Provide:

• Speaking scripts and templates to get you started
• A held space focused on support and trying something new together.

About your facilitator:

Barry Wright (he/him) is an improviser, teacher, and technology professional. Since 2020, Barry has served as President of the Board and co-founder of Highwire Improv, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to steward a community of artists committed to growth, collaboration, joy, and justice — in Baltimore and around the world — through improvisational theater.
