As Baltimore experiences a cultural renaissance, facilitated by the growing creative fertility and artistic vitality of the East Coast, Charm City Comedy Project has launched a comedy festival to showcase the area’s emerging talent.

The Charm City Comedy Festival, first of its kind in the region, will take place from Thursday, May 8th through Sunday, May 11th, 2014. With performances from 73 improv, standup, and sketch acts representing Baltimore, Washington, D.C., New York, Philadelphia, Boston, and beyond, this inaugural festival will focus on providing our audiences with the highest quality comedy from reputable performers.

Events will include shows on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at the Charm City Comedy Project, currently in residence in Hampden in the Lou Costello Room upstairs at Zissimos Bar (1023 W 36th Street, Baltimore, MD 21211), with a full day of performances on Saturday, May 10th at the 2640 Space in Charles Village (2640 St. Paul Street, Baltimore, MD 21218).

Improv and sketch workshops will be held on Saturday, May 10th from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM and Sunday, May 11th from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Zissimos Bar and Gallery 788 (3602 Hickory Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21211), and will be taught by some of the East Coast’s finest instructors – Amie Roe and Ruby Marez of Magnet Theater, Kristen Schier of Philadelphia Improv Theater, Shawn Westfall of The DC Improv, and Mikael Johnson and Murphy McHugh of Dojo Comedy.
