Marcellus I. Vinson is a writer, lyricist, and spoken word poet, born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. His poetry explores themes of social injustice, pain, loss, love, hope, and community. He is a ranked slam poet, taking the final stage at the international slam Brave New Voices in 2024, 2025, and as of recently 2026—with his team. He is also the current (2026-2027) Baltimore City Youth Poet Laureate, being the face of youth spoken word and activism in partnership with the Baltimore City Mayor’s Office. When writing isn’t the focus, he practices the arts of music—pursuing mastery of the piano—performing, and investing in academics.
DewMore Baltimore, a program of The Black Arts District, seeks to foster civic engagement with historically marginalized peoples through innovative art-focused programming and community organizing. Via purposeful partnerships with community organizations, schools, and governmental agencies—DewMore fosters empowerment, capacity for change, and personal development through youth voices.
