Larry Miller  is an elected school board member for Milwaukee Public Schools who served on the School Board while Dr. Gregory Thornton was CEO of their school district. He is also an editor for Rethinking Schools. Larry lived and worked in Baltimore in the early 1970’s before he moved to Milwaukee, where he taught for 17 years in Milwaukee Public Schools.  Rethinking Schools is a journal and book publishing house for progressive, public education practices and policies. Throughout its history, Rethinking Schools has tried to balance classroom practice and educational theory. It is an activist publication, with articles written by and for teachers, parents, and students. Yet it also addresses key policy issues, such as vouchers, charters and marketplace-oriented reforms, funding equity, and privatization.
