The Sisterhood of Black Single Mothers decided to change the language in the 1980's.  Instead of describing non-patriarchal families as "fatherless" they described them as "motherful" families.  Riffing on the genius of those mamas the Revolutionary Mothering crew is creating Motherful community events around the country, which are open to everyone!  We will bring the crayons and revolutionary activities, you bring your generations of brilliance and you'll leave with intergenerational learning tools to keep the revolution alive! "A Writer with Writers: Mothering as an Act of Revolutionary Love" by Kay Whiteheadhttp://www.mdhc.org/blog/?p=2001#.Vs32iRhJ8Q2 Mai’a Williams is a writer and poet and lives in the U.S. with her daughter, Theresa.  She worked in Quito, Ecuador in 2014 and 2015 as a journalist for teleSUR English, the global Venezuelan revolutionary news agency. Alexis Pauline Gumbs walks in the legacy of black lady school teachers in post-slavery communities who offered sacred educational space to the intergenerational newly free in exchange for the random necessities of life. A queer black troublemaker, a black feminist love evangelist and a prayer poet priestess, Alexis has a PhD in English, African and African-American Studies, and Women and Gender Studies from Duke University. Since 2003, China has facilitated workshops to create support for parents and children in activist and radical communities. In 2009, she co-founded Kidz City, a radical childcare collective in Baltimore.
