An inspirational activist-leader, Cliff taught philosophy at Morgan State University from 1963 to 2004. He co-founded Baltimore's Research Associates Foundation, which in the early 1980's converted a vacant public library into the Progressive Action Center, a hub of Baltimore's progressive community for over two decades; the center's subsequent sale funded a succession of grants for research and organizing in Baltimore or an additional dozen years. Cliff was also the cofounder of the Radical Philosophy Association and the organizer over decades of their Conference of US and Cuban Philosophers and Social Sciences. After moving to Mexico in his retirement, he co-founded the Center for Global Justice, which has served as a major forum for anti-imperialist mobilization in the Global South. He was a voracious reader and writer, whose books include Moving Beyond Capitalism, and Recreating Democracy in a Globalized State.
The memorial will be a hybrid event with in person and online participation.
