Poetry is a coping mechanism, which can be used to express oneself within this fast-paced hectic world. Thus, it is extremely important to come together and celebrate language and its power to craft community.

Post-Zineposium 2 is a reading by poets from Maryland Institute College of Art. Fourteen student poets, who create both visual art and write poems, will read their original works. Chezia Thompson Strand is the featured author who will be reading from her book “When Divas Speak in Tongues” and KERQ: “Live from Mississippi” in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Freedom Riders, which will be available to purchase. These artists balance the creation of images and objects, visualizing language and meaning through their fine art and design projects, while simultaneously using words to paint images in the audience’s mind, simply to be felt rather than seen. Balancing the visual and the auditory experiences of the viewer, this night will be a sensuous experience showcasing the new and experimental works of these poets. Please join us for this exciting event to enjoy and celebrate the art of language.Student curator: Fanni Somogyi
