We welcome you to kick off this year of Energy, Power, and Democracy with us and our partner, the Baltimore Public Power Campaign, who are organizing for a publicly-controlled energy utility!

Taylor Smith-Hams says, “Energy is a human right, not a commodity for monopoly corporations like BGE to profit from. Across the country, 2,000 communities are powered by public utilities that prioritize benefits for their customers, not profits for faraway shareholders. And the data is clear: public power is cheaper, more reliable, and cleaner than prvately owned utilities. That’s why more and more communities are campaigning to make the switch.”

This campaign is going to need all kinds of support. As an arts-based organization we encourage the support of the artists we know, and those we don’t know yet, to make this campaign a success.

Are you curious about what public power means? Do you want to imagine what it might look like here in Baltimore? Are you a graphic artist, or do you know one? Would you be interested in donating some of your time and skills to helping this exciting campaign to get off the ground?

Inspired by the flame of Imbolc celebrations and the start of the lunar year in February, we are joining forces with our friends in the Public Power Movement. We will do some somatic movement exploration of power and energy, where we will explore our personal relationship to energy and power. During this event, we will transform our experiences, hopes, and fears into visual expression, and learn how we can get involved in the campaign for Public Power in Baltimore!
