Worker cooperatives are on the rise: more and more people are looking to create new democratically owned and operated workplaces, or convert existing businesses into cooperatives.  Even some cities---like New York, Austin, and Madison---are now funding worker cooperatives as the beginnings of an alternative to the normal uninspired options in economic development.  Join us as we screen the new short film "Own the Change: Building Economic Democracy One Worker Co-op at a Time," a great look at the basics of starting a worker cooperative, told by a diverse group of worker-owners from around the country, and co-produced by the Toolbox for Education and Social Action and Grit TV. After the 20 minute film, we'll move into the Free School classroom to go deeper with our Red Emma's Worker Coop 101 discussion, facilitated by founding worker-owner John Duda, and organized to help orient our new worker-owners to the exciting world of workplace democracy, but also totally open to anyone from the general public who'd like to follow up on the material in the film.
