Narrated by Alice Rothchild, an American Jew raised on the tragedies of the Holocaust and the dream of a Jewish homeland in Israel, the film follows her personal journey as she begins to understand the Palestinian narrative. The Palestinians interviewed speak of their family traumas, their resilience, and their call for political action to resolve this conflict.
Following the film, three Palestinian Americans will share their own experiences of dispossession, statelessness, identity, resistance, and activism:
Omar Fuad Dajani was born in Jaffa, Palestine. Following the Nakba, he took refuge in Cairo, Egypt. After attending grade school in Cairo, he moved to the U.K. for high school and the U.S. for university. Omar became a U.S. citizen in 1969, after being stateless for 21 years. He is now retired from a career in international sales and marketing. Lena Ibrahim is a first generation Palestinian American studying global affairs at George Mason University. She is the founder of the DMV Students for Justice in Palestine coalition and an organizing member of the US Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (USACBI). Lena organizes for social justice and human rights and enjoys solidarity building and cultural resistance. Sammy Alqasem is a Palestinian American living and working in Baltimore. He is an organizing member of Baltimore Palestine Solidarity.
