Red Emma's
The With Us For Us coalition, formed to address Baltimore City’s inequitable economic development practices and create a reparative economy, is organizing around a ballot initiative that would power community wealth building in our most marginalized neighborhoods.

Join us for a teach-in and panel discussion at Red Emma's Bookstore Coffeehouse in Baltimore. We'll discuss community wealth building and Baltimore City's payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) agreement with 15 hospitals and universities.

WUFU is an exciting new initiative to close the racial wealth gap in our city by creating a community wealth building coalition. This will directly fund important initiatives like local co-ops, community-owned land trusts, investment funds, and more.

Speakers will include:

  • Meleny Thomas, South Baltimore Community Land Trust
  • Krystle Okafor, SHARE Baltimore
  • Dr. Lawrence Brown, Author of The Black Butterfly: Why We Must Make Black Neighborhoods Matter
  • Marisela Gomez, Village of Love and Resistance

Food and drinks will be provided!

The WUFU Coalition is comprised of organizations with operations in Maryland including Baltimore Renters United, CASA, the CASH Campaign of Maryland, Clean Water Action, Community Development Network of Maryland, Communities United, Community Wealth Builders, Economic Action Maryland, Energy Justice Network, Jews United for Justice, Jobs Opportunity Taskforce, The Maryland Center on Economic Policy, Metro Baltimore AFL-CIO, Network for Developing Conscious Communities, North East Housing Initiative, Organizing Black, Partners for Dignity and Rights, Progressive Maryland, Public Justice Center, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, Teachers and Researchers United at Johns Hopkins University, Village of Love and Resistance.
